Can't view players

So when I Shift+Tab to view the steam overlay there is something that says friends, and then it says view curren players and recent players, I often try to use this to check for Ghosting Buddies but it never EVER shows me the current players, it just says currently no players in game or something...
So how to fix? Or is it supposed to be like that
