What do you think of Dungeons and Dragons?

I thought it was stupid as hell for a really long time. I would question why people would sit in a basement, write stupid character sheets, and roll dice.
Then a month ago, I started to play with my boyfriend. In a basement. With Mountain Dew and Doritos. With a shit ton of cats surrounding us.
It was amazing fun, and I got so excited that I made my own character sheet and got models to paint and everything.... I even suggested which Pathfinder adventure we should play.

So, does anyone else play? And what does everyone else think of Dungeons and Dragons as a whole?

I've never played personally, but I like the game as a concept. Not so much anything else.

Well, I watched this video from the pbsideachannel on youtube and it actually gives a quick run down of what happens during a session and the benefits of such. It makes sense. It's basically social rehab is how I see it, lol. But yeah, I watched it and decided to talk to my boyfriend about it and we found a group to play with a few days later :)

Never really had the friends to play it with. Sounds like it would be fun though.

Never played it.. I think. I may have played it when I was in elementary school in our library. We chose to read or do that...

No one in my life ever considered it.

I was wondering mostly because in my hometown no one really played, there was a group here and there but it was mostly unheard of. Then I moved to California and it didn't take us long at all to find a group and now the group is way too big and being split into 3.

Full game board wise, it's an okay game for when you're with a group of friends and you're all really THAT bored, but its counter-part Pen-and-Paper DnD....I consider that the poor man's version of video games.

Dungeons and Dragons is the boss.

I prefer the pen and paper type significantly more than the board game kind. The board game is really unnecessary, only thing it really helps with is keeping track of what is going on, but you can just use a whiteboard or paper for that. Though only bad thing is your experience is really dependent on how good your Dungeon Master is. They can be sometimes hard to find.

I played every summer when I was fishing since we tended to have a good amount of downtime. People don't seem to understand all it really is is just a video game with unlimited possibilities. When you play it, you get the video in you head just like you do when you read a book.

I made up a few of my own games, drawing up maps, badguys, weapons, and classes. I tended to make mine much more sci-fi oriented.

Full game board wise, it's an okay game for when you're with a group of friends and you're all really THAT bored, but its counter-part Pen-and-Paper DnD....I consider that the poor man's version of video games.

You mother is a poor man's video game.

Lol, I think I purposely didn't want anyone to know unless they played with me. I think I had high brain at the time lol...

Anywho, I guess you could consider it a poor mans video game, but it's more than that to me. If I didn't want to play it I wouldn't, but I'm constantly looking forward to it and make time for it.

Never played it, was always semi-interested in it, looks time consuming.
