It doesn't really matter actually. It just depends if you're using TNT or not.

What are you even saying.
Anyway, the size of the quarry doesn't matter. The only thing that I currently know that lags the server, is loading an extreme amount of chunks.

Many people have been running several quarries at 63x63 including me. Hasn't cause any problems. Do be cautious with water/lava however, as if it starts mining through water or into lava it can cause it to spread all over the place and lag a fk load at least for while you're there.

I'll keep that in mind when I do get to that part. Lava will be near the bottom so I'll put water then.
