How did you guys get into PC gaming?

Console gaming is pretty typical to get into but PC gaming seems like it was always a different process for everyone.

(I thought I saw a thread on this but wasn't sure)

awful game... can't believe how much time I wasted onto it.

Though I quit I was somewhat used to playing on PCs, and then eventually they did that free Portal thing on steam, so I made a steam account and such with a retarded name thinking I'd never really use it.(Thank god I don't have to use it...) and I couldn't even play it because my computer was from the dinosaur ages. So I never played it but always wanted to because I heard good stuff about it.

Eventually I got myself a laptop and was finally able to play Portal and had a great time, and then I started using it on the friend pages on /v/(might as well say it since I know half you guys go on 4chan) and I got a few friends and started using it more and then they had the begging threads and someone was offering a SMB(and a TF2 guess pass which was really fun) which no one wanted so I got it and eventually started buying humble bundles and other indie bundle crap. And then the first sale game,  I heard a lot of TTT on /v/ so I bought CS complete and Garry's mod, and so I met a lot of you fags

and began my process of TTT addiction and more PC gaming stuff and eventually actually building a 950$~ computer...

Now I have lots of games and I blame Gabe for the free portal. That damn evil genius.... I didn't ask for this.

Believe it or not, my first ever PC game I completed was Marble Blast Gold, an amazing game.
I played DooM a few years before MBG, and I sucked at it and I had to have my grandfather finish the level for me

It started when i went to college, met a good friend there who was playing DOTA and TF2....I played a bit on his desktop and fell in love. Dropped the console not too long after. I'd have more games but I'm running stuff on a laptop now.

That reminds me I use to play some kids PC games. Like LEGO ISLAND, and some Spongebob games, those are one of those things I forget a lot. Though I don't think that really impacted me on becoming a PC gamer.

I haven't dropped my consoles. I still play them a lot. Though I'll probably get most 3rd party games on PC now. Seeing as they get so cheap.

It all started when I went to my grandparents' house. Played Maplestory all day long  . Then a couple years later, I became FPS man

For me, I was always mainly a PC player, with consoles like my GBC/GBA, PS2, and Dreamcast on the side. My parents would buy me dirt cheap games from yard sales and such when I was a wee tyke, and I soon became addicted (e.g. Shining Force (Sega Smash Pack 2), Sonic CD, Lego Island, etc).

It was only when I hit my teen years that we had internet connected to the house and I became a "hardcore" player. I quickly found out about Steam (and found GMod soon after) when I started playing games online. As a matter of fact, the RND Zombie Survival server was the VERY first server I ever played. I then made the servers my hotspot destination whenever I had some free time. I spent most of my time on ZS back then (back in the golden days of RND ), then found TTT after.

So, pretty much, I got into PC gaming the way I am now because of you guys. Don't you feel special?

Started a long long time ago on Runescape, learned a lot of big words and economy 101. Then onto Warcraft 3 (custom games ftw), and when bots took over Warcraft, I participated in the HoN beta, and played that until I discovered steam!

Became one as I watched This Guy and Toast playing TTTGmod/TF2 and others so I bought those 2 main games for my B-day/Christmas/Halloween idk I think it was a sale time. There I become intouch with this computer until then :3

World of Warcraft. My dad allowed me and my brother to play it when he was at work or whatever, and as I grew older and got bored of WoW, I moved onto other things. I remember I only used Steam to buy Garry's Mod so I could play on Roleplay servers. I had really enjoyed playing roleplay games, especially with custom maps on Starcraft.
