It's dead. No recovering files etc.
Just browse some part retailers:
www.ncix.ca is my favourite. Canadian, too!

From my understanding it depends on the damage of the drive, i know some places that do data recovery but they probably charge an arm and a leg to do it i was just hoping someone knew of a "cheap" way of doing it at home instead of bringing it in.

Do you have a strong magnet? If you do, pass it over the hard drive for about 10 times. Now it is fixed.

Actually. that does work sometimes, worst that could happen is completely ruining the drive, best that can happen is that it fixes the damn thing.
Formats the drive yes, but it sometimes can fix it.
Don't do that unless you're out of options. (Or to be safer just send it in to WD or Seagate or whoever the hell you got it from.)
I have no idea what I'm talking about ;_;

Depends on how it's damaged.

There are tools to recover certain sectors but it might not work very well for your case and can be extremely time consuming.

Every time you download Garry's Mod illegally, Garry makes a bug.

When people ask me "Plz" because its shorter than "Please" I feel perfectly justified to answer "No" because its shorter than "Yes".
