Screw Dragons, get a Wyvern. Wyverns are badass and cool.
Unsure about East Asian Dragonic meanings, however I do know the European counterparts quite well.
Edit: Looking at wikipedia...

Chinese Dragons are also very modest and peaceful, unlike European counterparts.
