That's what everyone has always said, to just be yourself. But I don't agree with it at all. You should always be yourself, but set a boundary. You shouldn't pretend to be something you're not, but you shouldn't make yourself look like a loser infront of everyone by being yourself.

The thing about acting yourself, is there will inevitably be assholes. If you just go out there and show off your vidya skyrim shirt with no sense of shame whatsoever, they WILL call you a loser because you are different.

Just be neutral I suppose. You can still talk about videogames, but don't just spout out references and things to people who don't a) Aren't your friends, b) who don't follow the same hobby

What I mean is being yourself with limits. Don't go full out and look stupid.

I actually agree.

Just about 99% of the people in the world tell you to "be yourself". But almost everyone uses that as an excuse to go full retard.

Depends what you mean by "stupid" i know alot of people who are outgoing and do things that some of us would consider stupid but they enjoy doing such things... So who are we to say they shouldn't be aloud to do something they enjoy because society dictates it as "stupid" we're all individuals we all like/hate different things If someone is going to be so judgmental about what others do they can go fuck themselves for all i care, whatever someone is doing as long as it doesn't affect me i don't care what they do.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wearing your new Minecraft shirt to school the next day, but people will make fun of you and that causes problems.

Only if you allow it to affect you... If wearing a minecraft shirt is going to cause problems the only problem is with the person with the problem with a t-shirt... Besides who cares what s/he think if they really have a problem with a t-shirt do you really want to be friends with said person?

No but this is just how it works. You're just going to look like a loser, for lack of a better term.

Funny how i always wore what i wanted and never cared about what others thought and i had quite alot of friends in school. in the the real world lots of people don't care what superficial idiots think. I actually believe anyone who follows "superficial morons" for lack of a better term is truly the "loser" I'll have more respect for someone who stays true to themselves over the mindless sheep.

I'm not trying to insult you or anything, but in my experience it never worked out. I guess the two of us are just surrounded by different types of people.

Because you haven't realized that you shouldn't care what others think yet. about a decade ago anyone who played video games was considered a nerd now video games is one of the biggest industries around. if people only thought like you did "do what it takes to fit in" (basically is the vibe I'm getting from you) alot in this world would be different.
