Yes, I am that uncreative with names.
NEWS: This is my attempt to make something organized in the music area. I'll post history, meanings and backstories of popular songs (any genre, any age, etc.) and YOU decide which is the better song. If you have an idea for next week's poll just comment below.
This week's contenders:
Money - Pink Floyd HD (Studio Version) What's dirtier than a porno? A porno with saxophone music in the background. It is used here for an amazing effect. Both the sax and guitar solos are outstanding, and the lyrics make you think a bit more than it's opponent. It can also be argued it has meaning, which is absent in it's peer. This and it blends just perfectly with the other songs on the album. The bass is also showcased, and is known as one of the most memorable basslines in rock history.
Dire Straits - Money For Nothing + lyrics The intro and guitar riff are easily in my personal top 5. And it continues throughout the entire song with getting old. The chorus is catchy as hell and both the drums and bass are strong when it's pumped up to full volume. And yes, you will want it full volume. The song was allegedly written when lead singer/guitarist heard a man in a TV store ranting. He opened a notebook and wrote down everything he said, mainly about MTV and how much easier it was to make it. The music video was entirely CG or has CG elements, which was groundbreaking in 1985.
So which do I prefer? Hard question, but I'd have to go with the Dire Straits on this one.
