We had a broken, static as fuck little announcement of it on the morning annoucements, but the school's modulator was too screwed up, so it made the TV too static-y and too interefernce-ish noise to hear. So really we just continued on about our day.
Supertoaster:
It should be something everybody knows about.
Its even in some newer textbooks now.

Getting back to the topic on hand....
Nah man, that doesn't make you dick, it makes you smart.
Those kinds of people are no good, IMO. Try to spend time in the company of fellow intellectuals, much more rewarding. Especially if they play vidya games.
Shockah:
On topic: No you're not a dick you just don't like "shallow" people, a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

An event that revolutionized the worlds outlook on internal security and the potential for terrorist attacks, how to stop them, etc. Paving the way for many of the worlds super powers large increase in pro-active and reactive measures. Not to mention it was the largest terrorist attack in the history of the world in terms of death toll and I believe there was 30 or so canadians that contributed to that toll. Also Canada participated, though as a secondary support role, in the "war on terrorism" providing air support, basing, and intel. Regardless of what other ulterior motives you believe fueled the war, the official reasoning was a war on terrorism as a result of 9/11. So feel free not to hang your head in silence for our, or your country men and women, but don't deny the importance of this event and the impact to the global population as a whole and its importance to a student body.
