I miss the old Alpha days, without corner stairs, flowerpots, wooden buttons, Item frames, cobblestone fences. Now they are adding more useless shit to it.

I enjoy these new changes. For one, like Shawn said, it allows you to add more detail and design to your creations. Second, it adds more content in the game which allows you to strive for more. No one said you had to craft a flower pot, but what if I thought a flower pot would work really nice in my front lawn?

You can turn off Smooth Lighting in options..

I can still play minecraft just like I used to, without knowing all the new things. The game is still the same if you're like me and don't want to learn this stuff; just gather up your 1000 emeralds and throw them in lava because you don't know what they do.

I really don't see a problem with these kind of additions? It only adds to the game for the people who want to utilize it. And like Axule said, you don't need to use these new items and whatever.

Download the Alpha texture pack. Then turn off smooth lighting, then you're done.
