Map Making

I found a guy on youtube that makes very decent tutorials.  99 of them, so far.  I made a little playlist of the ones I find useful for TTT mapmaking (http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5EFAA90EA1DAEEEC&feature=edit_ok).  Also, I am looking for people who are very experienced with Hammer.  If you are one, or know one, please contact me.  Thanks

I prefer http://www.youtube.com/user/3kliksphilip , his tutorials are little bit more straight forward

How about someone tell me why the X grid-plane changes stuff on the Y grid-plane and why the camera will not move by normal means. Every time I open up Source SDK I'm hit with a bunch of changing problems that I rarely find fixes for in youtube videos.

An old one was being unable to see entities if there was a solid map piece behind them.

I've even uninstalled it and re-downloaded it! My numerous sketches are all for naught!

I have avatars and signatures disabled. There is no reason to judge people here by anything other than what they post.

Try uninstalling Source SDK then delete the sourcesdk and sourcesdk_content folders in your steamapps/username directory. Just be sure to save .vmfs so you don't lose your work.

If that fails, uninstall steam and delete the steam folder. Again, back up screenshots so you don't lose precious memories.

I'm a pretty experienced mapper. You can ask me if you have any specific questions, Otherwise I'll just direct you to a youtube tutorial.

What I want to know is how to import sounds/models to the map itself. :/

What I want to know is how to import sounds/models to the map itself. :/

You literally just drag them into the main directory of the game you're mapping for (eg, using CSS as a base, you'd drop the models in the models folder like you would for a gmod addon).

That's how you get them into hammer. Once that's done, you just have to use pakrat to have the custom content be saved into the .bsp file itself.

Check out my Soundcloud for some neat stuff!

I'd like to make another make someday also.
I'm glad we share similar interests.

I've got one that I work on every now and then. I'll give it some more work and show some screens.
