He clearly said "be able to have concealed weapons in public", and "letting" implies it's something that isn't in current effect. I think we should be a little more strict on who CAN get firearms, but allow them in any setting. The major thing about all big-time shootings was that nobody could shoot back.

Yes, but knife crime in the UK is proportionately much more common than gun crime in here.

That's true, but the point is this due to the much much stricter gun laws in the UK, you do not see nearly as much Gun crime in the UK than the US.
I'm sure that if guns were legalised to the extent that America has in Britain, our gun crime statistics would shoot up, while our knife crime goes down.
