Throat Mics

Due to the fact that my current desk microphone sucks and keeps cutting out my voice, I've decided it's time for an upgrade. I'm really looking for a decent throat microphone, for several reasons such as clearness, noise cancellation, and so on. I think I may get this one, but if anybody can offer some good suggestions, please do.

Oh, and another thing. Is it even advisable to use a throat mic? Or are they just a waste of money? If so, what would be a good alternative?

To clarify, he thought I meant an internal mic inside of my throat. I meant one that just goes around the neck.

Well throat mics are for if you have 20 fans in the background, screaming children in the background, mom constantly bitching at you in the background, neighbors working on a loud-ass muscle car in the background, and just about a tornado siren in the background. Meaning if you have a clusterfuck of background noise, throat mics only pick up vibrations from your skin where your vocal cords are. So it basically eliminates background noise.

Well when you put it that way, they actually sound nice. But it would be a little uncomfortable to wear.

Eh, they're not the best in quality. It's something that has high enough quality that you can play CoD with. Of course there are high quality ones, but price is a big factor, and people usually use the high quality ones for like industry jobs. You'd have to talk to someone who knows their way around throat mics. And the one that I wore...it felt really weird and the bass of my voice fuzzed up everything in game.

I wouldn't get a throat mic.  I can't even stand a headset mic.  I use a stand-up mic, lol.

Seems a bit expensive for what it is. You cant really have so much background noise that a good quality mic cant cancel most of it out, can you?

Yeah, I was going to say something like this.

I think getting a 50$ stand-up mic with a homemade pop filter is going to last you longer, and sound better in the long run.

No. You simply put it around your neck and it recieves the vibrations from your vocal chords.
