The House of Representatives and the Senate make up Congress, our legislative branch. The President makes up the executive branch. The Supreme Court makes up the judicial branch. There's no branch that is more powerful than the other, which is a key factor in our government. When bills are proposed it is first voted on in the House of Representatives, made up of representatives from each state whose size is determined based on state population. If it passes in the House of Representatives, it goes in to be voted on in the Senate, which is comprised of senators representing each state. After a bill is passed in the House of Representatives and the Senate, it goes on to the President. Our constitution gives the President the power of being able to Veto, or deny, certain bills. However, if there is a 2/3 majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, the President's Veto is nullified.

I understand the branches and shit, it's the same in Canada but I believe here the bill goes through the house of commons first, then prime minister, then senate... maybe I'm wrong though idk.

Also, I didn't mean necessarily that the either of those things are better have more power or w.e, just that that's the order the bill gets approved through.
