Well here's Hotgreen messing up his internet again
Hotgreensoldier:
In attempting to forward my ports to host a server in Cry of Fear, my internet stopped working. After putting in the information and saving changes in my router, I had already re-booted twice. On the third time, the router refused to reconnect. I use a Ethernet cable connected to a router connected to a modem. Now, I'm stuck on "unidentified network, no internet access"
Using the laptop WiFi, I saw that I could still connect to it. Just not on the PC directly. Aparently, it doesn't have a valid IP configuration and now only has a IP of 169.254.x.x (X's are numbers) Which means that the DHCP server isn't giving my computer a IP.
Can anyone help? If I can't fix by today doing a hard reset on everything.

It's hard to help if we don't know the model of your router, or how you messed it up exactly.

It's a Dlink DIR-655 router. I tried forwarding the ports for Cry of fear using the dlink website.
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-655/default.htm
That is what I tried to use. That's when it stopped working.
...Shit, I didn't read that you need a static IP to forward the ports.

I found out that it isn't the router/modem that's causing the problem. If I connect the ethernet cable to this laptop specifically, it still works.
From what it looks like, the computer isn't receiving the dhcp address from the router and keeps giving itself a local IP.
I've already tried the following
cmd prompt "netsh winsock renew"
cmd prompt "ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /dnsflush"
Restarting the router and modem SEVERAL times.
Manually putting an IP instead of the obtain automatically option
Disabled and re-enabled the Local Area Connection internet adapter
Checked on the gateway website (through this laptop) and saw that this laptop was the only one accessing the network
Yet again, help would be appreciated :/

Use Windows Repair? I know it sucks and stuff but you never know.
