friends were blinded by this and did urge me to read the book, and also to watch the movies.
Within the first couple of pages I can already tell what will happen and even predicted that the bitch will eventually have a baby with this guy in which she did on one of the new movies I dont know. The story itself is very predictable, and very.. uhhh,.. shallow?

Women of different ages are obsessed with this and I have no idea why. I hated the book and the movie within the first couple of chapters even though I wanted to quit reading it after the first paragraph but hey, I figured I'd give it a chance.

What bothers me though is how people compare the author of twilight to the author of harry potter.
Why is twilight so popular? Is it because of how they depict "Edward" and how these women would love to have somebody like Edward or have an enchanting love story similar to the one in the book?

No clue.

Also the main reason the book series is so popular is because of the movie. Because the book series was about as popular as Inkheart before the movie, so you can largely blame Hollywood for fabricating this trash and bringing it into the mainstream.

I completely agree. And not only that, but it shouldn't even be compared to Harry Potter. One of my good friends tried to argue with me that Twilight was better the Harry Potter for a bunch of said reasons and my only responses were.
"Harry Potter actually has a serious conflict and plot, and a resolve in the end. The ending was also not predictable and actually had more meaning it then Twilights ending will ever have.
Also, Robert Pattinson was in Harry Potter first, and he smiled and had color to his skin."

I made it through half the first book before quitting, and my friend still drags me to go see the movies. They're not absolutely horrendous (minus the bad acting on Kristen Stewarts part, so unemotional) but as said a thousand times, what's so great about a predictable movie.

On the good side the guy who played edward actually quoted that he liked being in harry potter MORE than being in twilight which was good to know. Harry Potter is something Im going to be reading my children and childrens children. IT is an amazing story with an amazing creative world.

Because gandolf is not a man, he is Maiar or five wizards in elvish, which are more like spirits sent down by the almighty gods to aid man. When they die they are reborn.

When I was still in middle school, and everyone was talking about how good the books were (remember, this was when only the first book was even out and it wasn't as blown up as it is now) and comparing it to Harry Potter and shit, I actually went out and got it.

I only got about 10-20 pages in. It was just too boring for me to even get into it .-.

The book ended up disappearing into the obscurities of my bookshelf for about three years until the first/second movie came out and literally EVERYONE was talking about that shit. The last thing I did with the book was invite a friend over to my house and we had a nice campfire using the book as fuel.

I'm not even joking.

I recorded a video of it on my old phone when I still had it.

I remember when I was like 5 (I think) I first watched the LOTR series.

I died inside when I saw him fall :(

Thank god he came back though.

Thank you Marie for the sprite.

I'm so glad the series is almost over, Then we have better things to look forward to like The Hobbit. I'm also hoping for a Knights of The Old Republic movie or possibly a Warhammer 40,000 movie, but I will most likely be disappointed and one will never be made. T^T
