It can't be Half-Life 3 because Valve already stated that the next Half-Life game would be Episode Three. Then Half-Life 3. With (hopefully), new engine.

Episode Three is said to be only the end of the current Half-Life 2 story arc, not the end of the overall Half-Life franchise.
This was in 2007, though.
But why make Half-Life 3 and then hop back to Episode Three?

Maby this could mean a trailer in 2012 E3?

Even if it is HL3, Valve will most likely delay it for X number of years. if it is announced during E3 it will most likely just be a HL3 logo and we will be waiting 1.7 years, because that is how Gabe Newell works, promise big, deliver little.

Yeah, I heard that too and valve they showed some hints of portal and half life 2 in both games with the Borealis Aperture Science ship and I heard that there would be Borealis appearing in hl3
