Is a DeLorean worth it?

So I'm turning 15 in about 4 and a half months, and then I have to wait half a year to get my permit.
Now to the question.
Long ago like 11 years or so when I saw Back to the future, I liked the DeLorean. Now that I'm close to driving I have been thinking about what car I want, and so I thought the DeLorean!

I just want to know, would that be a good first car to get?

Also sorry if this is in the wrong area...

THANKS CRYPTO BB

i would just get a small, efficient car that runs.
easy to park, easy to turn, good mileage.
I don't have anything specific in mind though...but yeah don't limit yourself to a car just because it may look cool  :D

California

Once you get your permit, can't you only drive with a parent until 6 months are up?

No. There's a reason that company went out of business, and aside from the cocaine, it was their product.

The Delorian is an awesome car, looks wise. Good enough that it's worth it to put up with the other problems it has if you at least have a moderate amount of technical knowledge.

It isn't the most reliable car, so you would expect to be fixing things that have broken on a semi-regular basis. Though this is in general, as with all cars, some of the Delorians didn't have many problems at all, some had more mechanical issues. It was more of a gamble in which one you got. Overall it's a mighty fine car. It's like a super-car, you don't buy a Lamborghini to be practical, you buy it because it is awesome.

Also a Delorian is pretty expensive these days, A preowned with low miles on it are $45,000 to $55,000 You might be able to find a hulk for around $20,000 but you would need to put quite a bit of money into it to get it into reasonable shape.

Also the Delorian motor company is back in business, I don't think they are making any new cars, but they are making the full assortment of parts.

Back to the Future is the only thing I think of when I see this car.

Well, they do have a stainless steel body, so that should give you plenty of protection in an accident. But since they weigh over 9000lbs, you're probably not going to get good gas mileage and they have slow acceleration. But, DeLorean's are actually beautiful. Listen to what Xrain said, he's right with the mechanical issues.

But the question is, how in gods name are you going to afford one? A used one goes around $20k, while a new rebuilt one goes around $50k. I'd love to have a DeLorean too but, I couldn't probably afford one in the next 15 years or so.

Unless you know your way around a car I'd say no... because they break down quite often.. but if you have the money to blow on one i say go for it they are beautiful cars...
