Remove the Respect system on the forums

The respect system in the beginning was a tool to see if you liked one's post, it was not meant to gain means of popularity. Now i see people trying to post something incredibly stupid, to gain respect points. For the most part, the respect system is useless and it should be removed. I feel it is now a tool for spam, and the majority of posts in some forums are spam. It is a suggestion, so do NOT get all butthurt because you like "respect points".

In all seriousness though, I don't see it as that big of a deal.
Sure we get stupid videos posted up in hopes that it will get them that +1 they want so badly, but does really affect us (as a community) in a negative way?
Respect to me seems like jewelry. You don't need it at all, but it's nice to have for looks and such.

Also, for the newcomers, it allows them to see who they can trust more than others (considering not many people have -respect).

I agree with you Mr. Franklin but sadly this has been talked about before and it was always shut down...

But you can do what i do... As in just refuse to use the respect system nor acknowledge its existents, pretend it isn't there...

I've suggested this more than once. Plenty of things serve purposes other than to piss people off and make others feel special.
