amd drivers

I recently downloaded a new display driver from the amd website but all it seems to have done is mess up most of my games badly. They never go above 20 fps and the quality is noticeably lower.

I really have no idea whats going on, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers but nothing makes a difference.

What is your GPU, does it have crossfire? And what was the last driver you got before this one?

a single radeon hd 5570 1gb.
The last time I updated the drivers was when I got it.

Can you check your power settings for the computer (Like if on power saver or what)?

Also, in the Catalyst Control Center, are there any weird settings/activity?

I'm sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions but I'm just trying to rule out possibilities.

Latest from AMD website? So 12.1 Preview?
If downloaded automatically by ATI control center, your latest will be 11.12

everything else seems to be working fine. all settings are normal and stuff.

yes mine is currently 11.12 so ill try that 12.1 thing.

I don't know any other way of downgrading other than system restore which I am not willing to do.

I should probably add installing and uninstalling crashes my display. It freezes up and gives me a black screen but the pc is still running. My guess would be something to do with the display driver messing up. Also whenever a game such as hl2 is up or killing floor everything starts to lag, not only the game.

tried installing 12.1 and its still borked. The shaders and such appear to be working properly ingame, its just that everything looks really fuzzy and lags badly.

I will search the big interwebs for a way to revert back to older drivers but I have a hunch its not to do with that but instead not installing properly.
In any case I already know what Im getting for christmas, it starts with n and ends in vidia.

the first image is when it was working fine, the second is with the messed up shit. note the stats in the corner as well as the general "fuzziness", I was getting well over a 100fps working normally.

I think it installed properly this time or something because everything works fine now.

Mission Accomplished, good work everybody. props to Toast for the 12.1 suggestion.
