Title: Kids these days
Post by: JIGSAW on November 02, 2011, 04:00:44 PM
Have you ever notice how kids are acting like in mature adults these days like the other day there I saw a 5 year old playing an Ipad and listening to a song with many curses in it, also a 10 year old playing battlefield 3
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
, or this time I saw a 13 year old's smoking, and lets not forget the kids that use curse words in our game server. The moral of the story is what kind of a corrupt world we live in I mean this has got to stop.

There will always be bad parents. I'm glad I can say I don't see my parents as being that way though. Well, at least my mom...

About the kid playing Battlefield...

I was at my camping doing some fishing in the small lake there. I managed to catch a fish and this kid came up to me. He asked if he could look at it for a second. I show him then he steals it from me, places it on a table, and cuts his head off with a small pocket knife. Worst part is the kid was 5-7 years old. Then he just laughed and threw it in the lake... I asked him why do that, and he responded "It reminds me of gears of war".

I never was more disappointed in my life. The worst part is that later I met his father, and he lets him play all these game and carry knives like he had. What has come to of this world...

You just noticed this now? This is what happens when technology advances kids no long want to go out and play hide-and-go-seek/manhunt/whatever, they just want to shoot people and mess with hookers (GTA). Moral of the story is that Internet and Video games has fucked up society.

My parents let me own a copy of GTA: San Andreas and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin around age 8 or 9. I could actually differentiate real life and a vidya game, and not do stupid shit like what was told in Silent's post.

Seriously, I've had multiple friends who were gun freaks, they've all told me stories about 10-13 year old kids coming into the gun rage, abusing the hell out of weapons and smashing the mags into the guns and dry fire while pointing at people and say they got it from Call of Duty.

Thing is, society actually hasn't changed much in the regards that everyone's talking about. Bad parenting, stubborn children, didn't just start occurring. Rather, you're only starting to notice it now, possibly more and more, or you're just assuming that society's so much worse than it at once was, and that technology is to blame of that. Not necessarily true. At least, not to the degree it's made to seem.

This. I remember when my mom wouldn't let me buy Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 because she said "It Looked Too Extreme". She also didn't let me buy Splashdown Rides Gone Wild because it looked too extreme.

As a kid, I've owned games like Gears of War/ Halo, and they didn't really have any negative influence on me at that time (sure, I was pretending to chainsaw my friends and stuff with my hands, but those are things like that are what kids do, such as tag.). I still knew what was more important, mainly my studies. But I guess it depends more on the kid, and also the parent. To silent's comment, my parents have never allowed me to get a knife AT ALL, and only recently have a recieved a wooden switchblade (lol)
So yeah, it depends on the kid but also the kid's parents and whomever he hangs around with.

This this this this this. My parents think that too much of "violent" video games turn you into a "cold-hearted" person. I still care for people, I don't feel dark, I don't have an urge to kill anyone in my sights.

I've seen this, with men 2x my age, kids younger....shits fucked, man.

"YEAH I GOT THE MIDDLE!" -swings gun wildly in front of onlookers, me included-

i hate kids that relate everything in life to something they saw in a movie or game

"so apparently when they arrested him he was with a hooker"
OMG THATS JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPENS IN GTA IV

"yeah and then they had to send in a swat team to clear the area"

Ehhh.... don't forget about the stranger danger scare, and the paranoia of some so great that we see shit like elementary school kids not being allowed to play dodgeball, or even TAG or Hide & Seek for god's sake.

Gotta agree with everything in this thread.
I've been playing games since Wolfenstein 3D with my dad and it had no impact on me. It's all individual.

There's a few teens (read: 12 - 15) drinking and then boasting about it.(Around here, that is) As if getting yourself drunk at that age was something positive and they really do believe that there can't be fun without alcohol...Meh, makes me wonder, what will happen to them in a few years.
Don't get me wrong, though, not everybody is like that, just that the "bad" ones are far more noticeable than the "good". This can be applied to nearly everything. Too many spoiled kids I say.

Oh god I know what you all guys talking about, I see every day a kid playing non-stop in his IPod violent games or watching porn all the god damn day in school.
And I see a lot of kids carrying knives, little metal poles and shit to get in a fucking fight and I hate it since I had a story with that shit.

"With many curses." I lol'd
Yeah I suppose some kids try to act older, but usually end up just acting like little pricks. The whole using an iPad thing though, it's just kind of a norm now days. Technology is apart of our every day lives, so kids are bound to use it. Violent video games... I wrote a paper about violent video games in 6th grade :D honestly, I have been playing different types of games since I was about 4 or 5 years old, and I am sure a lot of people played games when they were younger too, violent or not. The point here is I am pretty sure we all started out as that annoying 9 year old playing a rated M game. Woo-pity do, it's going to happen, might as well get over it.

And the smoking thing, well kids make stupid choices, it's not always the parents fault, especially when they don't know what their kids are doing.
Yeah our world is corrupted, but it's sort of supposed to be. We don't live in a perfect world, son.

Sorry, but your arguments are pretty bad.
Humanity hasn't gone insane, it's matured in ways and some make the best of it, some don't. It's improved rather I would say. JB didn't have a baby with Selena Gomez, and she's around the same age as him. Last, legalizing prostitution wouldn't be a terrible thing, it would eliminate pimps for the most part, and then less lives would be lost/in danger.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Canada (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostitution_in_Canada)
"In Canada, the buying and selling of sexual services are not illegal, but most surrounding activities, such as public communication for the purpose of prostitution, brothels and procuring are outlawed.

While the prohibition of the activities surrounding the sex trade makes it difficult to practice prostitution without breaking any law, the act of exchanging sex for money has never been illegal in Canada, a situation which has created and continues to create confusion and controversy"

Basically says as long as you don't have a pimp its legal.

I hate how people say how horrible of a world we live in and how ignorant people are. We are much more intelligent and know more about the universe then anyone before us did. Sure gangs and stuff are very bad and most people in them are stupid ignorant thugs but there have been and always will be people like that. People used to think that when you had a mole on your back and it bled you were a witch and should be burned or stoned. If your neighbor just THOUGHT you were a witch or got angry at you, it was pretty much a death sentence. We used to think that a ship was safe by how many funnels it had. But now we have a law system that works and people actually get a saying to defend themselves. And we are more humane.

/endrant

In before people find many flaws in this and start to criticize me but this is what I think.

i still think like this, i can smile watching a movie were they are ripping off the eyes of someone and say "cool"..

But 1 time when i was 10 or 11, i saw this European movie at 3 am... i just laughed at a child getting blow up by a ground mine thinking it was fake... and at the end of the movie some letters appear saying like: Jack moved to Italy in 1945, there he had....

was one of the worst feelings i have ever had....

So

I was playing Left 4 Dead 2 realism on crash course.

Me, a friend of mine, and "Sni-Fi", who was a really great teammate, would keep up communication, wasn't a hardass always pushing people to hurry up, that sort of stuff, were all doing fine with the Francis bot.

Midway through the campaign, this little mexican squaker joined. He was yelling at everyone and shiet. Was annoying. Sni-Fi was black/white, and the kid accidentally killed him.

I was like "You...you killed him ;'c" and shot him in the face.

HE STARTED CUSSING US OUT LIKE SHIT. LOL.
Then his dad came on and was like "DONT YOU BE KILLING MY SON YOU MOTHERFUCKERS."

Fuck man, shit was hilarious. We ended up vote kicking him because if he kept it up, we might have had to go buy new eardrums.
