Yes, invest hundreds of millions of dollars to design, and build specific equipment to build the new CD's and invest more money to place equipment that puts the data into the CD that no one else uses except for that one company. And then MORE money to create and train people around the country to work in these factories since this is new equipment and one factory isnt enough to supple a whole chain of EB games.
Nope, they too greedy

Not even the NES, SNES, and N64 used something different besides CD's in todays world i can't see how it wouldn't be possible to make something new...

They don't have to use CD's thats my whole point lose the cd's and burning doesn't exist anymore. Also their not saving money using Cd's considering all the people that are downloading it for free...

Now you're missing my point.
Publishers dont want to do that because that would mean a sweeping change of production lines across the country just for their own usage. This means money spent on design, training, and mass building of new machines that put data into a custom disc rather than a standard CD, which are what the companies have and are used to.

And you're not getting it after they have that in place they would make more money then they are now
Think about it they lose millions on games because people are just downloading them. For a $30 game if only 1000 people downloaded it thats $30,000 they just lost and i can promise you that more then 1000 people download games. i just looked at ONE torrent for Dead island and it got over 9,000 downlaods already and theres like 20 other torrents that have like 5,000 downloads and thats a $50 game.
You gotta spend money to make money, any business person would tell you that.

Rocket,
It's Shawn.

That's why they raise the initial price and piraters are about 43% of the gaming population they only need 25% of the first produced batch of discs to sell in order to make profit.
-
People that pirate games usually can't buy or wouldn't buy the game anyway. So it doesn't really matter.
And if the game is good some of the pirates will buy it.

whats wrong with cd's? except the fact they can get damaged so easily.
