Title: A Quote from a Book
Post by: o69snipe69o on July 24, 2011, 01:31:25 AM
I am reading this book (Gears of War: Anvil Gate) and I stumbled across this sentence, "But any shit looks better to most folk as long as it's 'different'." This is SO true! Look at how much attention Battlefield 3 is getting because of it's amazing graphics. Reason people think MW3 is going to suck is because they haven't seen any change in the "looks" of it. Most people like change in look, but I'm one of those few that also notice the game for it's change in gameplay. For MW3 to be judged based on how it looks IN CAMPAIGN is stupid. Campaign is the worst part of CoD AND that is the only gameplay footage we have of MW3. Multiplayer plays a HUGE factor on whether a CoD is going to be good. Battlefield is a great series and I know I am going to love Battlefield 3 but I'm also going to love MW3.

But I'm kinda scared for Battlefield 3... a shitload of fanboys have joined their fanbase because of how good the graphics and the engine is. It's like porn, their attracted to it and now, they are going around yelling at how CoD only has 12 year olds. Why can't people be cool and enjoy both games? It pisses me off. I'm tired of "OH, Battlefield 3 is going to stomp on MW3". They are both different games that have different goals! Battlefield gives off realism but keeps the enjoyment. CoD is fast-paced and depends heavily on it's mulitplayer gameplay to see how good the game is. Kinda like Counter-Strike where the gameplay is excellent, but you don't see destructible environments or super ultra omega graphics. I wish fanboys would die, and that is my little rant on the topic. All of this, came from a quote from a book. :P

Well said, i really dont give a SHIT about graphics things i care for
1. GAMEPLAY~ is it actually fun?
2. Mulitplayer Gameplay?~ can i haz fun with others?
3.is it worth my time
Like i said, i dont give a SHIT about graphics. Really only if a game is fun amd playable

And i just hate how people rate a game by HOW IT LOOKs! A game is to have fun not to only admire how "realistic" it looks....

Modern Warfare 3 doesn't deserve to even make a hundred sales.

It's shitty rehashed shit.

Theres a reason people like things that are different.

And you're judging that from what? Campaign gameplay? MW3 picks up right where MW2 left off, so it HAS to be the same. Wait until multiplayer footage comes out because the whole CoD franchise revolves around it's multiplayer.

I just hate the fact many fanboys from CoD decided to hop on the "cool-wagon" of BF3 and pretend they have already played the BF2 series when they obviously didn't.

Yeah, that's how Wager Mode, Theater mode, Dolphin Diving, new weapons, perks, attachments, etc. got implemented. You are using the most exaggerated and overused argument ever. Mw2 is NOT the same as Black Ops. They are different, in fact, Mw2 is better than Black ops, and I have a feeling that MW3 is going to be better than MW2 and Black ops.

Yeah. Thats totally why Infinity Ward has to use the same shitty engine, or the exact same level design, or the exact same multiplayer, but with two new weapons and a new perk added.

It's still the same fucking engine they released MW1 on.

Mw2 is NOT the same as Black Ops.

Looks like someone is a CoD fanboy. It is the same as Blops. Same fucking graphics/physics engine, glitches, same small, repeated maps, same multiplayer experience, just with a newer HUD and new perks, which were created by editing pre-defined values.

BF3 is going to stomp MW3

Especially when it arrives at my house ASAP pre-ordered.

Mw3 = Mw2 extension - new maps, more weapons, more shit

haters GONNA HATE

when it comes to BF3, I don't care if youre against it.

I wont listen, so dont try lol

No; I was directing that to the under-aged kids that played CoD :3

Do you even know how much I regretted it when I bought black ops?
I got to level 55 or something then knew it wasnt going to worth prestiging.
Theyre milking cod to shit

Why did you buy it? Because it looked different? Right? Well it turned out to be a piece of shit. Stop saying Battlefield 3 will stomp on MW3. I will say this though, Battlefield 3's graphics stomp on MW3 graphics. And sticking to one engine isn't bad... look at the source engine, it's been the same engine from all those different games yet they are still good.

I bought black ops, honestly because all of my friends online via xbox were playing it..

Oh yea, that's true. Haha I usually do that too. If I see all my friends playing it constantly, I usually get it. And if I have enough friends on Battlefield 3, I will get that too. Along with MW3.

I have no problem with Microsoft's success, they've earned their success. My only problem is they make really third grade products.

Each game runs on the same engine, yes.

But you're not taking into account the different builds used for each game.

Plus, the reason why I brought up the engine with CoD is because it's the exact same damn game.

You're trying to rebutt an argument by basically saying L4D and Portal are exactly the same.

I'm talking about the same engine under a certain series. Say there is a Half-life 3. Half life 2 and Half Life 3 would be on the same engine with a small improvements on graphics. Does it make it the same game? NO! I'm tired of people saying that "Cod has been the same game since Modern Warfare." When it really hasn't. People are too easy to overlook the new additions in CoD with the engine still being the same a year after. What is the time-range between BF2 and BF3? About 5-6 years. They had a shitload of time to improve! Also Bad Company 2 was about a 1 year and a half ago, but that wasn't THAT different from Bad Company one which was released around 2008.

Like I said, Battlefield and CoD are set out to have different goals and I'm tired of them being compared. Battlefield goes for realism yet enjoyable. CoD goes for fast-paced gun on gun action. CoD keeps their graphics low to play at a 60 FPS on Xbox 360 and PS3/PC so the "gun on gun" action is smooth. That is their goal especially this year for MW3. Infinity Ward collabs with Sledgehammer to make the best CoD possible. Dice has their new Frostbite 2.0 to show off in their new game Battlefield 3. Graphics are almost equivalent to real life and Destruction 3.0 is better than ever.

CoD = gun on gun action
Battlefield = making it as realistic as possible.

CoD is kinda like Counter Strike... but only if Counter Strike was released every year with new things added, but still keeping the core gameplay of it.

Text.

But

You don't have to pay 15$ to get a 4-map mappack on CSS.

Infinity Ward/EA don't give a shit about making a good game.
They just care about money, so they re-release the EXACT SAME GAME (JUST like you said, because change is bad, apparently.)

You're trying to compare mountain-dew fueled 5-year-old multilayer to an involving single player game ._.

It's sad to see that SO MANY people are willing to fork over another 60$, just to get a couple new guns.

To me, the only truly "milked" CoD game was Black Ops.
You guys are making MW2 look like a game that doesn't even deserve to be sold.
Like snipe said, CoD and BF have their niches.
However, CoD games are overpriced, I will not deny that.

Personally, I like both series.
BF is more fulfilling, but takes a little while to get into, while CoD provides fast-paced action from the get-go.

I'll be honest here.
Until around, oh say, 2008, I was a Halo guy (flame away)

This was back when the fanbase was mainly mature people who cared about the story and the mechanics of the game.
Now it's all, "I KEELD U! IMA TEABAG UR BODY ADN B KEWl!!ONE!!"

At least Halo can use a different engine each time.

I cannot wait for:

Operation Flashpoint: Red River (out, but i have to be home to pick it up from gamestop)
Rainbow Six: Vegas 3 (its in secret development, shut up and let me dream)

I love tactical games.
Like, take a bullet to the chest and you ARE out of the fight, not "hang on, if i run faster I'll heal"

But I seem to be the only one.
Oh, and while I have the floor, FUCK GEARS OF WAR. That shit is not "tactical" just cause you can camp on a wall.

Lol, fuck gears of war? Gears may not be tactical, but it is strategic. If you acquire the right amount of skill and establish the correct strategy, you will be unstoppable. Combine that with with 4 other players who have the skills and the correct strategy and you have a team will dominate. Gears is a team game. And Gears 3 is going to be the best out of all gears.

Red Orchestra: Ostfront '41-'45.

THE most realistic WWII you will EVER find.

At least until RO2 comes out...

No recharging health or health kits.
Realistic ballistics and firearms.
Your machine guns can overheat and you have to change the barrel.
If you snipe, it's not a full screen view of the scope, but rather a 3D view.

Red Orchestra German Weapons (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo8XNbsbkIc#)

AHEM.
Counter Strike can be strategic.
Half-Life DM can be strategic.
So can COD. Or BF, since we were talking about that in the first place.
Team communication should not be limited to a game; this is why I hate people
No one knows how to communicate effectively.

What I meant is tactical gameplay.
