Title: Giving an innocent the traitor's knife.
Post by: memo3300 on May 29, 2011, 10:53:53 PM
Soo... i was playing TTT after months of not being able to play, and i find this lil' problem.

One guy was saying that Xrain told him that a tratitor giving a innocent his knife wasn't something bad.

But, teeny said that we shouldn't listen to xrain if he said that, and that if we do it we will get banned.

For meh, I belive giving away the knife is wrong, and making it bannable would prevent having to hear a guy raging because he lost karma or got RDMed for something unfair.

anyways, what do you guys think?

counts as ghosting, in my opinion is bannable.

Working with T's as innocent IS bannable.
And giving the innocent the knife will only get them killed by the other innocents. Or they will use it on the other innocents.
Its just going to cause a problem with false traitors and karma baiting (eg, trolling)

Teaming up is a ban.
Ghosting is a ban.
Anything that deviates from the normal rules and game mechanics is a ban.

I actually worked out a strategy becuase people do this so often.

> I'm a traitor
> Run around with knife
> go "I FOUND IT ON THE FLOOR"
> everyone believes you

Seriously.

I could see how giving an innocent a knife and "teaming up" would be bad but I would think leaving a knife on the ground to be picked up in certain situations would be a legitimate strategy to cause confusion and disarray in the ranks of the innocents before or while you strike.

k lets clear this up

a traitor giving an innocent a knife, BOTH KNOWING... is not ghosting, there are no dead(ghosts) involved in the situation
this is not allowed, the game mode was not designed for traitors and innocents/detectives to team up

and to Orgazmo, yeah if a traitor wants to leave his knife behind for a RANDOM player to pick it up without anyone knowing, then thats fine

this makes sense
not like "oh hey <name> here have fun" and then drop the knife

Ghosting. You chat with people on steam to know that they are the T. My opinion.

1. Be innocent
2. Kill T or find knife
3. Throw a knife a the detective with Q
4.  ???
5. Profit

Xrain did say this he has strictly forbidding me and Bip from banning/kicking anyone from doing this.

To OP:
What Moo had said.
It's teaming, and isn't allowed.
Many bans were given out for it before.

Has anyone else noticed
>innocent traitors
I'm kind of wondering what Xrain would say.

The guy who Xrain told was me. I was playing with somebody and he said in GLOBAL CHAT to come over to him. He dropped his knife right in front of me and gave it to me.
Ghosting = Letting others know who the T's are

In this case, he did NOT tell me anything else. He just said "Here have a knife". I thought he might have been inno, since a T already died and he might have picked the knife up from the dead T. So I didn't kill him for the sakes of my karma.

I can't clarify well at the moment because I'm multi-tasking...someone else please clarify up for me if you have time...

That's exactly what happened a few weeks ago. >:D

Yes, as Shawn said, Shawn and myself were strictly told not to ban/kick for the giving of knifes to inno's by Xrain. With that said it may have been a bit of a troll. Didn't sound 100% serious.

@Moo, I 100% agree.

MY opinion on the matter is quite simple. With perm karma and the high likelyhood of lossing karma as the result of this it shouldnt be allowed. In my case with shawn where this all really started. Waffle was given a knife by his T buddy and then shawn killed waffle because he had a knife. Then I killed shawn after seeing him kill waffle who was inno. With that said it is completely unneeded. If you are that bored of TTT and you can't wait for a T round go play CS:S where you always have a knife.

And that is exactly what happened I think, but as Minic said, this gives an advantage to Traitors.

It can be done I think if the inno doesn't know who the T was. But the wayyou described it, you knew full well who the T was and did nothing about it.

Okay, so...

1) Giving knife to innos as T = not cool

2) Leaving knife around for inno to find = its k

This thread actually gave a me an idea for the knife thing...

A trap! A inno finds it on the floor. I hide behind something. he picks it up and i shoot him in the head.

Or my strategy if you are a T:

-Attack your friend while creeping them out saying you have a surprise for them
-Surprise /knife
-Profit/Screams from thier Mics

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Allow me to clear up my intentions with what I said.

"Teaming up" with the T to go around and kill other innocents is not allowed. However there is nothing wrong with the T giving his knife to a random player.
If he want to take the disadvantage of the innocents having a knife and him not, I see no problem with that.

Example:

No Problem:
" T runs around, sees random player, hands innocent the knife and runs away making sounds like Dr. Zoidberg, Innocent looks around rather confused"

Problem:
"T goes to player, hands player knife, Innocent befriends T and works to undermine other innocents, or fails to do his best to kill said T."

This is what my intentions were when I said whatever I said that day. I apologize if it caused any confusion.
