Just enabled this error in GMod today. It happens when you pirated it. Having fun watching people complain.
So I try starting gmod today, and I get this error.

He received a few comments, mostly jokes, but a quick look at Google suggests that there are indeed a few people who are experiencing problems with their game.

Making the situation even sweeter, the number which appears in brackets after the error statement is in fact the gamer’s 64-bit steamid.
Y’see, Steam keeps a list of which accounts have actually forked over the $9.99 for a legit copy of GMod – so it’s a simple matter of checking ids and turfing out the pirates.

It's often not the fact that they can't get $10 or are too cheap to spend it...
It's that they can't get their hands on a credit card for what ever reason and are not able to purchase it online, but also can't get it in stores.
That was my case about 2 or so years ago.

Okay, it first loads up GMOD normally. Then you see title screen. Few seconds/minutes later... BOOM, engine error.

As for Undead/SteamUp, That's what it blocks. Gmod loads up your SteamID, and checks to see if you have legit gmod.

Well now that I have GMOD, when it says to redeem the gift, it wants me to install Source SDK base 2006 by pressing "OK". But when I press it, it just brings me to steam store home page... do I need a source game like hl2? :-[

Best thing to do is to buy the CSS + Gmod Combo, then get the orange box.
TF2, CSS, GMOD, Half life 2 + ep 1 and 2, along with portal.
WELL WORTH 50$, considering thats how much it costs for a single new release. You'll end up playing the collection of games longer anyways.

I went legit since chrismas. 5$ gmod lol. I also bought the whole ''valve pack'', and i'm very happy i'm not a pirated user anymore :) The game loads faster and all that shit. I don't see why the cracked users didn't buy the valve pack while they could at chrismas :/

Right now you can crack gmod but you can't play in VAC servers... now getting cracked gmod is not worth it.
