Title: Kinda in a bad situation... Anybody read the book "Ender's Game"?
Post by: Pryvisee on January 12, 2011, 05:51:36 PM
Well my class has been assigned a "Major writing assignment" and shit. What we have to do is do a profile of the person, do a timeline, write a paper and present it. I've done the timeline and the profile, but I'm stuck writing the paper.

Alright this is what the part says:
Quote
Part C - Connect to the Text (140 points)

This part of your project should be in a ONE-PAGE essay (MLA) format.  The questions you should discuss (in any order) are as follows:
-What does it mean to be a leader?
-Was power (or respect, if not a political leader) given or taken by your person?
-Which qualities does your person share with Ender (give examples of choices/events your person has made that show this).
-Was your person a leader or just influential?

The person I chose was Steven Spielburg. Now, I don't know jack shit about him, and I haven't really read the book. So I'm totally stuck.

Also this project is worth about 300pts and if I don't do it, I don't graduate.

This is what I have so far.

Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg revolutionized the art of making movies. He has done major hit’s in his movie making career. He has done, “Jaws”, “E.T” and “Saving Private Ryan” to name a few. And he has also executively produced others like “Transformers” one and two.  He has to be a great leader in the career of making movies.
Don't laugh, lol

Dear Dillon Fahey,

I suggest minimizing the use of the phrase "he has done", to provide more variety and creativity to your paper.

Sincerely,

I don't even know how Steven Spielberg is like Ender. Have you even read the book?

Steven Spielberg revolutionized the art of making movies. He’s done major hits in his movie making career. He has done, “Jaws”, “E.T” and “Saving Private Ryan” to name a few. And he has also executively produced others like “Transformers” one and two.  He’s a great leader and a idol to people wanting to produce or direct a movie.

The respect Steven Spielberg has landed him in all sorts of places. From the Emmy’s to guest staring on TV shows. The respect started when he released the film “E.T”. It was a amazing film back in the day and still is. Almost everyone knows the name Steven Spielberg.

Steven Spielberg has struggled through life and succeeded with a dream. The divorce of Steven Spielbergs parents was devastating and Ender’s break up with his family was an example of that. Ender had a hard decision to make. Go with colonel Graff or stay with his parents. Much like Steven had to choose between which parent to go with. Each of which, turned out to be a good decision.
Eh?

Emmys doesn't have an apostrophe. You spelled "starring" wrong. There needs to be a comma inbetween "places" and "From", not a period. The first sentence isn't even an actual sentence.

Thanks! Any more that needs to be corrected?

Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg revolutionized the art of making movies, as well as having done major hits in his career. He has produced “Jaws”, “E.T.” and “Saving Private Ryan”, to name a few. He has also held the position of executive producer for others like the more recent "Transformers" productions.  He’s a great leader and a role model to people wanting to produce or direct a movie.

The respect Steven Spielberg commandeers has landed him in all sorts of places, from the Emmys to guest starring on TV shows. His fame all started when he released the film “E.T”. It was an amazing film for its time and still is. As an indirect result of this, almost everyone in our modern day and age knows the name Steven Spielberg.

Steven Spielberg has struggled through life with nothing more than a dream, and succeeded. The divorce of Steven Spielberg's parents was devastating to him, and Ender’s parting with his family was a similar example of that. Ender had a hard decision to make: Go with colonel Graff or stay with his parents and sister Valentine. This is much like how Steven had to choose between which parent to go with, each of which turned out to be a good decision.

The only thing I can contribute is that I recommend you not put the Transformers part in there... They both sucked major balls.
