Title: New Server Development Discussion

There has been some talk with others about a new server-wide, non-monetary, shop system.

This will feature some sort of currency that can be achieved on all servers.

Special items and majority of points can be earned through contests all admins can hold at any time.

Contests will be logged and displayed publicly as information and also to help facilitate honesty.

Items able to be bought include player additions/decorations/etc.

I am posting this to gather comments, ideas, criticism, etc.

For it ? Against it ? Reason ? Have an Idea ? Have a suggestion ?

wiremod.ru Servers are a good example of this (although they have a donations system as well :P)
GMOTD = Gamemode of the Day server

Points are used for the donation menu only, they serve no purpose in-game.
Profits are used to buy from the shop in Deathrun
Silver is used to buy various items in GMOTD

1 USD ~= 31.217 Russian rubles (you can use WMZ to donate USD if you're not Russian :D)



All
-You can donate online or by SMS, where 1 ruble = 1 point
-Uses:
-1 point can be converted into 10 profits ($1 USD ~= 312.17 profits)
-Cheap deathrun packet (66% off all deathrun items for 7 days or a month)
-Build VIP privileges for 7 days or a month

Build
-Build VIP gives you ability to use PAC, some tools and features, etc.

Deathrun
-If your team wins as killer or runner you obtain profits. Less for if you're dead, more if you actually killed the killers, etc.
-Shop uses profits as currency
-Shop has hats, playermodels (you're the C17 black citizen by default), trails, toggleable 3rd person camera, custom text below your name, and ghost mode (you can respawn after you die and noclip or run around (although you don't weigh anything, so you can't trigger any break traps))

GMOTD
-You can set your own playermodel, all gamemodes are fretta-based
-If you win you obtain *profits*, which can be used on deathrun or converted into silver in the GMOTD menu (but not back to profits)
-Shop uses silver
-Shop has hats, blood dyes, custom titles, facial effects, special items you can only get through events and promotions


Would be nice to have 1 single currency that's shared between all servers though.

I highly doubt coolz will end up doing something like this. RND isn't a sellout like some other 'big servers' that sell admin/VIP/othershiz.

Although a paypal donation button on the forums would be nice.

Ontopic// I'm all for a shop system. Those of us who constantly play on the servers can show off how we have no lives with our 1337 hats.
Plus it'd help make server-hoppers regulars on RND.
plus, maybe some nox players who can't stand their own community might switch over to RND.

Yeah, I was actually hoping donations wouldn't go towards in-game credits.

Only prob. is that selling things like hats, trails, or playermodels in the shop would be pointless on the build server (PAC2)

The currency should be something catchy and silly.
VIP's should get something... Some sort of default addition that lower ranks will not get.

I put an idea while back for an achievement system, and specific achievements would give you some sort of minor advantage.

Like heal yourself for a total of 10000 HP, and you would get +5HP when you spawn. Something small, yet worth working for.

A tier of upgradeable weapons will work too.

as in a good 400 Hours logged into ZS.

Im against upgrades to more damage/health because I believe all players should be at the same level with the same weapons.

custom tags or hats (hats shouldn't apply on ttt) I am leaning towards because they don't give any advantages other than showing other players that you have devoted a lot of time and effort to gain your hat.

I really like this idea. I have always thought that to make things more fun, the game modes need a driving force to keep you going. Like in deathrun the whole idea is tp just own death..... kinda gets boring. So if you get some points for it people will want to do better and be like HELL YEAH!!!! I JUST OWNED DEATH!

Do it son!

Ideas:
The shop system similar to the Q menu where you can buy custom models and custom apperal.

Gamble with it like prevois posters suggested

trade items maybe..... "I want the blue hat, cause red sucks"

Have it corrilate to the monthly changing server mode.... Since its not always going to be there ppl wont get to much of an advantage. Like say on onslaught you can buy special props and stuff with it.... or special weps that specific classes can only have.

(Lastly I wouldnt really have it based on hours played.... More of what you do well and not the quantity you do crappy things.)

You should know by now, projects finish on their own time.

I suggest investing a little patience with things you are interested in before your current tendencies cause the people investing time to think about who, it seems, they are wasting their effort for.

However, with the sheer amount of these responses it is unfair to weigh this just on you, however important it is to note.

Developers here are not servants to the players.

You should know by now, projects finish on their own time.

I'm aware of that, thats not how i ment my question to sound i should've worded myself better.

What i wanted to know is if the project was still alive.

But i guess it still is if you say to just wait Lol

It's an idea combining points, shop, casino idea.

I have not worked on this past conceptual design.

Might start developing during December or January.
