Title: LoL Player Jailed for Sarcastic Comment ― Facing Long Prison Sentence!!
Post by: Tezuni on June 28, 2013, 10:35:46 PM
A LoL player arguing with his teammate on facebook was jailed in march for his comments, which were followed by "lol" and "jk" in case nobody noticed the sarcasm.

I guess the FBI didn't care about that, since he's been jailed for months now.  The internet is serious business!

The charges are 'terroristic threatening', and if convicted he faces up to 8 years in prison.

Cant help but reading that as "Some other unrelated people did some bullshit, so we decided to imprison people at random"

America, the land of the free xD top kek
Well at least Americans aren't too busy promoting gay rights instead of trying to stop becoming a full scale police state. Awesome.

But yeah after all the crazy shit that happen I guess the FBI has some rights too be paranoid but I don't think they should be paranoid to an extent.
After all this surveillance scandal, whistleblowers, all those illegal wars that have destroyed most of the middle east and pretty much made the entire generations in there to hate America and other shit like Guantanamo bay, I think they have a lot to be paranoid about.

Things like this bother me greatly. The eight year sentence is bullshit for something he didn't even threaten to do. He didn't threaten any person nor group, and he retracted the statement while making it. If someone is imprisoned for eight years due to making some silly comment, its not a huge stretch to get life for saying a government official ought to be removed from his position, since that can be twisted into a direct threat and conspiracy to assassinate a government official by the same legal loon that decided the kid is plotting to commit mass murder solely off that statement.

Title: Kid gets 8 years in jail for making a sarcastic comment in LoL

The comment was "Oh yeah, I’m real messed up in the head, I’m going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts" and ending with a Lol and Jk.

Really now? Sarcasm is everywhere. School shootings are fucked up yes and making a joke about them is dumb, but does he really have to get  years in jail for a sarcastic comment? Is The internet becoming too much of a  serious business?

gee, that's being just a little dramatic

On topic though, there's two main things to take from this:

1. It's probably not a good idea to make mass shooting jokes these days.

2. The FBI is horrible at their job when it comes to identifying real threats.

Well. Not really. The government owns your house, your land, your son, your dog, your cardboard boxes. They even own your body. You dont have real freedom. You have whatever permissions the government decides to give you at the time.

They can also jail you and even kill you without a trail too.

Good old government. Constitution has been nothing more than toilet paper here for a long time.

'Murica. The only place where you'll be arrested for gettin' mad at video games.
Ten.
Fucking.
Years.
After pleading guilty nonetheless. Should have plead innocent, because he sure as hell wont be in ten years time. Isnt the US justice system great? Turning average teenagers into criminals and otherwise destroying innocent lives for teh lulz.
For fucks sake, you can get less for actually killing three separate men.

If you get longer prison times for making a joke than killing 3 men...
Its not just authoritarian. Its fucked in every which way.

It's more like turning into an empire at this point.

US foreign policy is even better: starting wars for natural resources, drone strikes 24/7, spying other countries (even US alies). All in the name of counter-terrorism.

Well yeah. The EU might decide to drop a warhead on the US one day without any warning or cause. Duh. And without oil we would have to come up with cheaper and more efficient methods of energy production. Its just too practical. Cant have that, now can we?
Why put money into something useful, like say, education, when you can spend untold amounts of money doing other things. Like building more weapons that wont be used, or developing new weapons that wont be used, or developing weapons for aircraft that wont be flown or used, or collecting every possible bit/byte of data on our own citizens without any real reason, or trying to figure out which type of tea our European enemies enjoy most.
I for one, enjoyed eating a mouth full of saw dust and chicken bone and drinking rebottled tap (river) water for lunch. The books we were supplied were in fairly decent shape too. Only had 10-20% of the pages were removed or had dicks drawn on them. And the building construction was immaculate. Except for a series of windows shattering in the middle of the hallway due to it being a load bearing wall. But Im sure thats okay, they replaced it with clear glass instead of that 60 year old yellow glass.
Priorities in budgeting, check.
Kids get arrested for 10 years for making a joke, when killing 3 men gets you 9 years.
Citizen rights and basic reasoning skills, check.

So the latest news is that his bail is at 500k now, and actually he's been in jail since February, not march.

His family is poor so they can't pay him out.  If he were a banker's son he wouldn't have been there more than 2 hours.

I genuinely believe it is time for a reset of the US government. Kicking ever single one out of officer and disbanding every program and entity not enumerated by the Constitution. And then having elections with entirely new elections.

Or we could just get a monarchy.

Either way, I'll wait out the chaos in orbit.

I wouldn't be so sure if re-electing the government would help for long as it is probably not the government who controls everything, it is those who have the most money in this world. I mean look at what Obeezy said before getting elected and now he's basically doing the same things Bush did.
