You might wanna find a new initiative for recording.

Free and complete versions of Fraps are all over the internet. Though I'm sure there are a few here who would recommend something different (and probably superior)

Yes, you will need a program to render out your videos. Fraps creates massive files (3-4GB for a couple of minutes for myself) which of course, will take almost a day to upload.
There's stuff like Vegas Pro out there but if you can't be bothered you can always use shitty windows movie maker.

Make sure you actually like the game you're doing LP's for. I tried it and I didn't like it, so I stopped like after a few weeks/

Ever hear of TotalHalibut? In one of the questions-he-got-from-Reddit-awnsering-videos he made at some point, he answers the question which is roughly:

"What recording thing do you use?"

If you can find that video, you will get a great answer.

fraps is fine, just get a file converter to convert the avi files to something that is compatible with your editing program, which also reduces the file size. I use http://www.converterlite.com/ (http://www.converterlite.com/)
