You need to play the first two games. It's like trying to watch the last Lord of the Rings movie without watching the previous ones. You have this short 5 minute summary recapping everything, but you'll still be confused as fuck and won't be able to appreciate it as much as you would knowing the full story.
You still have three weeks before the games out though. Plenty of time to beat ME1+2.
It'll probably be a later date then, like when it's a deal for all three games for a cheap(er) price. I can wait while playing other games.

One of the only game series that could ever send a shiver down my spine. Great story, pretty good graphics, good gameplay and great story. Only part that annoys me is that in ME1 its heatsinks, with minute metal particles being propelled by the ME field(got to love a game that gives their GUNS STORY LINES :3), ME2 its ammo (With the same model as heatsinks? Lolwat?), and now it seems to be back to heatsinks. What happened with that?
It's not heatsinks ._.But they were called heatsinks, because the mass effect field caused weapons to overheat o-o... And guns dont use plasma ._.
It's using standard ammo. The way the guns worked was that the little plasma cartridges or w/e would overheat and you'd have to constantly replace them with your "ammo".
Weaponry in Mass Effect is based on mass accelerator technology. A weapon shaves a projectile the size of a sand grain from a dense block of metal. The projectile is launched at supersonic velocities by decreasing its mass in a mass effect field. Because of this, ammunition is never a concern, but managing the weapon's internal heat is. If a weapon is fired too rapidly, heat will build up inside of the weapon and it will overheat, forcing the operator to stop firing long enough for the weapon to disperse its heat buildup.
Since the events of Mass Effect, personal weapons have undergone a massive shift. It was discovered that, in an age of kinetic barriers, most firefights were won by the side who could put the most rounds downrange the fastest. As such, detachable heat sinks, known as thermal clips, were adopted first by the geth, and shortly thereafter by organic arms manufacturers. Ammunition may never be a concern with modern arms, but the availability of thermal clips is; weapons without thermal clips have nowhere to disperse their heat and are incapable of firing. Luckily, thermal clips litter modern battlefields, and can be obtained from fallen enemies or found around the environment.

Brutes are really annoying. Especially when there's more than one. Good thing I have the Scorpion pistol. 8 shots on them and kablooey! Warp ammo is also good for general use.they will come in packs in the last mission, I suggest proximity mine and armo breaking ammo

Eyyyuuughh.
Not going to say I was disappointed, since people hammered it in my head over and over again that the ending was going to be bad, but it still kind of irked me a little.
Basically, no matter what you do in the three games, you're able to chose which ending you want.
All the endings are exactly the same, with just some color differences to match renegade/paragon.
It sort of just, ends. Like the Sopranos. It didn't really have a conclusion to it. Just "oh, you did this. And that's it. The end."

It wasn't a bad game by any means though. It was worth the ride, even if the destination was "meh". I still recommend the trilogy to anyone whose willing to spend their time to play it. I still feel it was worth it.
