"COMPLETELY invisible while standing still"
Not really, As soon as wave4 starts, humans just turn on their flashlights rendering wraiths nearly useless for "Suprise attacks"
This needs changed to be as said "completely" invisible while standing still,
Change material of wraiths to moving seethrough one, Thats the fix i think
[May or may not respond to replys, I Don't use the forums alot]

I thought the point of wraiths is that flashlights can find them and they have to be extra ninja when trying to kill humans. I can manage easily as wraith as a percentage of humans dont switch their flashlights on.

The point of wraiths is that they're visible WHILE MOVING. You have to be extra ninja by NOT MOVING. If you want to keep wraiths visible under flashlight, we should at least add a flashlight battery of some sort.

I always thought a FEAR-esque battery timer for ZS would be really cool.

I don't think it is possible. I know that, by default, the flashlight shader cast shadows of models and world geometry even if it is invisible.
To change this would require changing the C++ code for the server itself and rework the flashlight shader.
There probably is a work around but adding a flashlight battery can easily be done with lua.

That's while moving.
The issue is that they are supposed to be invisible completely when the wraith is completely still.
IMO, they should fix that - OR, OR if it can't be done (by which I mean physically, not being too assed to do so), make it so the text no longer claims wraiths can be invisible completely while still.
-
Uh Mayan, you DO know I made a guide on how to fix this right?

Didn't Noxious.net fix the flashlight glitch with the invisible wraith? Because I remember shinning a flashlight directly at a wraith, and nothing was there until it moved up to me and fucked my shit up.

We're talking about server-side
Not client-side

People can still do the method I posted and it doesn't take long, instead of making Coolz do all the work (editing server stuff)

I think you're misunderstanding. Mayan wants the Wraith to be more "invisible" .-.

NU UH!
Lol jk shit I did....
I'm used to him complaining that he can't see them :/...
Sorry lol I derpd..

While we're on the subject of wraiths, can we make it so that they move super slowly when crouching but remain invisible? I think that'd be fairly balanced.

that wouldn't work out to good if you were trying to get through a vent

What I do is hold CTRL+ALT so I walk and crouch. You move slow enough to be near-invisible, just gotta be careful.

fuck vents, then

Make it so Players cannot draw shadows might work...
-
Players doesn't really make shadows. The shadow, which gives you away is the small shadow right under the player. It doesn't have anything to do with flashlight really. You would need to modify the engine to remove it. Source automaticly draws it. Dynamic shadows on players would be too costy.
And there aren't commands to remove this effect, server-side. You can only do it client-side, which would be just unfair.

NO weaiths do about 45 damage it would be unfair if you couldnt see them and its more unfair that weaiths can jump attack wile moveing. what you should do is that make them less invisible wile standing still or you should lower the damage to 35 damage like a zombie.

how can you make an invisible wraith even more invisible. And you prety much defeating the point of wraiths if they cant do high damage

But the proposal is to make them completely invisible when STILL [not attacking or moving], which is how it SHOULD be IMO.

A flashlight timer with a slow recharge (with 2 second delay when depleted) would be an easier fix. I'd prefer it too.
-
maybe dumb down the visibility??

Flashlight Drain and recharge.
time for it to drain when on: 15 seconds
time for it to recharge to full power: 5 seconds

Yeah, that will work. I think better-suited numbers will come from further tesing when this is applied.

This would be stupid, IMO. It wouldn't stop wraith killing that much either. ZS would turn into Alan Wake, lol. You seek for light.
It gets pretty annoying to recharge your flashlight every 20 seconds, especially on dark maps. It would also make ZS a lot more harder for survivors. E.g, Couple survivors are defending the same spot with flashlights on. The flashlights drain and nobody can see.
I do agree that there should be some kind of drain. But it could be one to two minutes with 10 second recharge.
Only way to make it fair is to remove the shadows.

1. You complained about a 20 second recharge when he suggested 5 seconds.
2. You offered an impossible solution.
IMO flashlight should take 45 seconds to drain fully.

The new ZS version which is hosted at the moment already has a flashlight drain coupled with some other changes.
