so well what actually happens is taht when i launch gmod, it comes up this "preparing to launch garrysmod" thingy, then it disapears and nothing happens... help lol

Check if there is hl2.exe running in Task Manager. If there is one running, close it, try again.
If that doesn't work, validate the GMod files and then try again.
If nothing, restart Steam.
If it still doesn't work, restart your Computer
If nothing works, try reinstalling GMod.

I fixed that problems by deleting everything EXCEPT
I repeat, delete everything. Just don't delete steamapps and steam.exe.[/b]
