Post by: Shawn on July 20, 2010, 01:46:20 PM
As of recently I'm not ably to install anything in the Program Files folder...

I get the error message that says "Can't create the following directory: C:\Program Files\(Folder name)"

But I'm able to install it anywhere else i want on the pc... anyone ever have this problem or heard of it before?

I am the admin... The root admin for that matter...

Its weird becuse if i save the install file somewhere then click run as - owner (which is the account I'm using to begin with) it works... is there way to fix that since theres no need for that crap...

Apply changes to this folder, sub-folders and files
Then wait 9000 hours for it to actually do that.

So if i did use it windows updates would be able to instal all the drivers i need?
Title: Re: PC Help
Post by: SheepsAholy on July 24, 2010, 03:56:39 PM
You'll be fine if its xp should have 2 cds i believe one is the installation of windows and the other is drivers. Or at least that's how my old xp was. do the installation disc first then the driver disk. that is if you're wanting to restore your pc and erase everything.

yarly, you would need your montiors drivers & your gfx card drivers seperately though

Yea you gotta do all the security updates that were released before sp3, then you gotta install sp3, then all the updates for sp3

Updates first, Old files second, Programs third

(Install new versions of your old programs not old ones, Registry will need to be added lol)
Title: Re: PC Help

Just install Windows 7 lol much easier, better and faster, and looks better too =O

k only programs I'm bering with me is steam games and limewire pro everything els ei can download from the internet agian :P so i don't have to messa round with registry crap, oh and maybe word perfect and the like.... minus micrsooft office since i only had the cd when one of my ex was leaving with..... (unless theres a way to move that shit over without having to delete the instal files LOL)

So i should be done coping my files in about 8 hours :(

But windows 7 looks 10x times better, it's 10x times faster, has more cool options, it has DirectX11, I liked XP until I saw W7.

I think you could just download the latest version of xp installation cd online in iso and burn it to a blank cd so you can skip all the updates lol. and umm I would help but I'm more visual when it comes 2 solving problems.

Lol thats when i ended up doing it sad tho because its exactly

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.

See why i facepalmed Lil i never really go in there for anything... except notepad... because no matter what anyone says notepad rules for HTML coding Lol
