I found a great tutorial on making custom textures for Source SDK (atleast I thought it was great) and I followed the tutorial perfectly but when I use the texture in Hammer the material is purple and black :(. I think it's somehow some problem with the .vtf text file I made but idk what I did wrong :(. Please helpz.
-
When you made the texure did you save it as a targe (tga) file then convert to vtf?

Yup :(.
-
Where did you put them
-
sourcesdk_content>cstrike>materialsrc
-
put them into your cstrike folder and any other game that your going to use it on like gmod.
Sometimes i find putting them into a folder called custom works i dunno why. Try restarting sdk after putting them in.
-
Didn't work :'(.
-
make a vmt file
put it in
cstrike/materials
-
Lets do this
Get your pic
Open VTFEdit
Import the pic
Save as custom_001
move to a new folder called custom in steamapps\username\counter-strike-source\cstrike\materials\custom
make a vmt file from there
open hammer
Use new texture
Be happy
-
make sure to change the creatyed vmt directory to
materials/{if other folders put here foo}/name-of-file(No extension)
-
I've tried all this :[. No luck. I fail :(.
So anyone wanna make me some textures lol? :D
-
sure gemme any image bigger than 256*256
-
I need actual textures made from scratch though :P.
For example: I needz a newly paved road kind of texture for my RP map :P.
-
like with lines?
or just the road
-
I need the lines too :D.
-
Put this into your cstrike/materials folder

Pingaz (http://www.fpsbanana.com/tuts/5383)
But remember to download pakrat and add your custom textures to the .bsp file so the textures are packed in.
