Title: screen bug (all text becomes blocks)

does anyone know? something to do with addons im sure but i want to know why it happens, the  only way to make it normal again is to quit the game.

Happened to me too for a little while. Never happened again and I did nothing.

Epic lolz extra fail!!
Having extra addons in you own addons folder is only fun if you play on a single player map or a server that has all of those addons!!

The essential addons list when playing zombie survival.
The essential addons list when playing wire build (sandbox)

If you have this many addons your GMod will load 10 times faster.

How to fix:
Remove you're Garrysmod folder from here!
steam/steamapps/name/
Run Garrysmod once and load a map
Add the addons above only if you play on sandbox servers otherwise join RND's zombie survival and you're ready to go!!!

i understand only neading certain stuff for online but i also like singleplayer. i like changing te LUA files with one another and testing them out in singleplayer. my pc is fairly fast and takes around 3 min to load but i dont mind. i guess ill copy all my present gmod folders into another backup place (my pc has 640gb of space) and start with a new drawing board.

ps. Do the addons affect the loading time if im in a multiplayer server?

success! my gmod now works flawlessly without any lag.

50th post now junior membar! hooray for CHEESE

In build servers it will drastically increase the load time, in zombiesurvival it may increase, in Fretta, no extra load time.  :)

It takes me 15secs to load a single player without any addons(25secs for multi.)
30-35seconds with addons(up to 1minute in multiplayer)  ;D

BTW. when you removed you GMod folder you also removed temporary files that would create that error and slow the game down!!  ;D

You also need SCar Mod :o

on vannila gmod it boots in 3 seconds, single players loads in 6 seconds on ultimatum, and MP takes 4 hours cause of addons xD
