Well.

They did make Mario look badass...

Maybe deep down inside, they're just trolling us. Making silly, completely "I read too deep into this" claims and super-violent games to send a message of peace and whatnow.

But the games are so...

Violent.

It makes me smile sometimes. Why isn't PETA making video games/flash games/etc for shits and giggles/money/publicity if they aren't already? They have some talented hands there making all these... er, "games".
