Windows Taskbar Derp

Today we went into the computer labs for the first time at my high school. I was pleasantly surprised when all the computers were Windows 7. After logging in I noticed that the taskbar looked like this.



However my taskbar looks like



Notice the icons are smaller and the start menu bulges out on the schools. Spoiler (click to show/hide)I know its a picture of Vista but they look the same
apparently to make it like the top picture you go into taskbar properties and select small icons

i guess it is either screen resolution, some option microsoft hid in control panel, or version of Win 7
