The is extended forward ( look at the stock/ barrel for proportions ).
 
I guess the mag would be just barely in front of that trigger, extended as thought it may be.

its an SKS. not even selective fire.

You load it via stripper clips.
Basically, a piece of sheet metal with the cartridges in it, and you push them into the gun.
