Is American Airlines A good Airline?

<< < (2/3) > >>

Arcoyle:
They usually have fair prices and are decent enough flights. For domestic it doesn't really make a huge difference as they are all pretty much the same.

Is this your first time flying?

You know, price, convenience, and to some degree service, comfort on board factor into it.  For example, I'd hate to fly to Equador in what was once a Northwest airlines aircraft, the seat pitch being so tight that even somebody like me - 5' 10" and usually comfortable in coach - would be uncomfortable... in stark contrast, jetBlue's aircraft are much roomier, that, the color of the interior is easy on the eyes, and the TVs provide tons of entertainment.

Speaking of which, only American's 777s have in-seat TVs for everybody.  The flights within the U.S that use them are rare.

Random fact: American's 767-200s did have 1st class seats with old VHS tape players - affectionately known as "wooly mammoths" among travelers due to their sheepskin / leather upholstery - which had been in their 767s since delivery in 1984 or so, and used on their DC-10s until the 90s, MD-11s, International / Trans-Atlantic A300B4-605Rs, 767-300s as well.  I got to sit in one briefly while getting off a San Diego - JFK flight, and damn, I wish I had been in first for that flight.  SOOOOO comfy, really far back recline, reading lamps, legrests, a stocked bar for the 1st class cabin right in front of you..... the 767-200s were configured 2 - 1 - 2, with only 1 seat in the middle row for that entire cabin giving that lucky person a perfect view of the screen if I didn't want to watch what I was watching on my TV, and more legroom than any sane person would need.  /envy.

Deathie:
Virgin Airlines has been the best that I've flown on by far.

Karoshi:
If you get there, might as well take it
