The inside straps.. what condition are they in? the outer layer of fabric.. does it have any holes? and is it a plastic helm or metal?.. Does it have a serial number and or model number? possibly a name on the inside?

Checked, and it's the PASGT helmet.
Probably from the '90s or early 2000s.
Oh yeah, it also says M-2 in the top of the helmet, if that's of any help.

This leather helmet was used from the mid-1800's to 1916, when it was deemed unsuitable for modern combat and replaced with the stahlhelm. This is basically the equivelant to the Medal of Honor, or the Victoria's Cross. Many have been awarded, and the emblem is still used by the German armed forces.

This is my most prized possesion. It was earned by my father while he was serving in Afghanistan. I'm not sure what it is exactly, so if anyone knows, please tell me.
