The whole storyline is really complex which is why it has 9001 books based off of it.
You'd have to know the whole storyline and it would make sense.
I haven't read any of the books, and don't know any of the story line, but my brother's a huge Halo fan, and pretty much knows all there is about it.
I can't remember what the answer was, but I asked him similar questions and it made sense when he explained it surprisingly.

Also, after like, 11 years, Bungie officially Gave the IP to teh other company PLUS Microsoft also owns a fair share of the IP itself, so they can butcher it and shit out horrible ideas 24/7... you can't blame Bungie if it sucks due to uncanon-overusedideas-unoriginality-unnecessary plot twists/"Idon'tknowwhatI'mdoing" :idk:

I think they already fucked up... though the intro was interesting. I didn't like the way how Chief just fucking solved everything like Chuck Norris (though I understand time constraints etc etc, but really, if they was gud den dey wud has still made an impression without Hiring Micheal Bay as Storyboard Director)... looking back, it wasn't ALWAYS that simple... even though he fucking explodes Two Giant Squids Kissing while falling to Earth; it already seems destined for a fail by most halofegs who can't overlook anything :yes:
But.
I'll give it the 15 minutes of fame it deserves.
If I deem it unworthy and a waste of my time and money... I'll just snap the disc and remeber that Halo was cool a long, long time ago :I
