Okay, even consider this legitimate..

Not much to say here.

But really it just seems like sensationalized over dramatic media, which is expected.

Now consider it illegitimate, false claims -> investigation leads nowhere.

Someone could have just paid the guy, or he himself could have wanted to bring down one of the most influential athletes.
