Startmovie GMod crash

Why is it that when I go to use startmovie, and exit the console, GMod crashes ["The memory could not be read"] ?  And if I use AVI format, am I supposed to specify the codec in the startmovie command, or does another dialog box pop up asking you to specify this?  [I read conflicting things when Googling information on this]

Well when it wants a codec, supposedly another small dialog box appears and you choose the codec from the drop down box.

Install a different codec, preferably XVid's MP4
