How do I update video drivers?

So I feel like I need to update my video card drivers but I don't remember how... someone help me please?

I have ATI Radeon HD 5770

First of all, it depends on what OS you're running (Windows, Mac, Linus, etc.)

Then just go to the ATI website. (In this case, www.amd.com)

In the top right corner you'll see a gray scroll down tab saying, "Download drivers." Scroll over it and then fill in the details, and done.

Okay, I did that and downloaded the driver for Windows x64 bit but when I try to install it... It says that "Windows has detected this software did not install correctly... we have put it in compatibility mode" So I try it again and still doesn't work and comes with a blank screen after I press Install.
