48÷2(9+3) <------- when the number is touching the parenthesis, it means multiply -_-
P E MD AS
48/2(12)
24(12)
288
Its left to right, so its 48/2 THEN 24*12

too lazy to make a SS so I used this.

Doesn't P E MD AS say you should multiply 2 with 12?
Alex Mason, SOG:
No.....
P E MD AS
means multiply and divide dont matter which order their done in. Therefore, it goes left to right.
same with add and subtract.
blαh2355:
! New idea. Distribute it.
48/2(9+3)
48/(18+6)
48/24
2

Technically, when you had 48/2(12) wouldn't it multiply to 24 because of parenthesis? So then 48/24=2
Alex Mason, SOG:
YEAHno
P E MD AS
There aren't any variables and you can do the operation inside the parenthesis.
Also, The distributive property is a property of multiplication
EDIT:
No, because 48/2(12) is the same as 48/2*12.
It's multiplication.
