The problem isn't the impact, it's the dust/other shit that will float around due to it.
Barely any asteroid is big enough to just hit the earth and let everything disappear, it's more of a slow, brutal death due to a lack of oxygen or too much shit that we breathe in.

It's not so much the air quality that would kill us, but the lack of food due to lack of sunlight to plants. And besides, this asteroid is much smaller than the dino extinction one, AND that asteroid alone did not kill the dinosaurs, it was a combined effect of the asteroid and a severe increase in volcanic activity.
