To the average consumer, they'd prefer something they don't have to install, and can just plug it into their TV and play, and is way cheaper than most Gaming PC's. It's only 300$, you don't need to upgrade the parts each year, and will always be able to play the newest games.
If you're someone who takes gaming seriously, obviously, a PC is the way to go. Sure, you'd have to spend MUCH more money, but the possibilities are limitless.
I personally prefer the PS3 for some games, and PC for others.
This.
It's the only thing I hate about Pc's. Either my computer goes boom, or it gets outdated, forcing me to buy a new one.
Specifically Fighters and some "Different" games like Mirror's Edge and Heavy Rain were meant to be played on a controller and on a HDTV.
Bottom line, it's easier and cheaper to have a PS3/360, but the payoff is better with a beefed up gaming rig.
