TL:DR VERSION:

- Friend in college had shit stolen from him on campus
- Told by campus security that because of the technical rule prohibiting that item on campus, despite being legal to possess in every state, the person who stole it from him committed no crime at all.
- WTFMYSTERYLOGIC
|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Alrighty, so yesterday my friend had $500 in Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic the Gathering cards stolen [well, that's how much it is claimed to be worth, but that is not the point of the thread].  Granted, he did act stupidly by not having them put SAFELY away in his bag, and not keeping his cards / bag very close to him, but still, it sucks.

So, he goes to campus security to get some help - get the police involved - and file a report.

Now, my college has a very broadly defined "no games" rule [such that you can theoretically get harassed for playing Tic Tac Toe] - that the professors in the building we play in don't give a shit about, and campus security guards for the most part stopped caring about too.  Only the brass, and some of the student govt. people really care.

So anyways, my friend goes to them, and failed.  Instead of being unable to do //much// because of the technical rule, they go so far as to say because of the policy on campus, that no crime was committed at all! [SIC]

WHAT?!?!?!?!

What the flying fuck?

So because a school - a state funded school - has a broadly defined RULE, the LAW does not apply, and we can steal that shit from people without consequence?

And a friend of mine is actually defending this idea - going so far as to compare it to having illegal drugs and having that stolen from you..... then again, though I get along with him well on just about everything else, when it came to the rule he //does// seem to have head head up their asses pretty far.

Seriously, WTF??

Indeed, it is pretty stupid to have that much on you all at once - especially if you don;t // USE it [as in play with it]

I could, theoretically steal somebody's cards and not get in trouble using their faulty logic [not that I would, since I'm friends with those people, and don't do that shit to begin with]... really, do people who say these things even THINK about what they say?
