Nomic Subforum

accelleon:
I propose Nomic subforum under Games or Forum Games. I suggest a sub-forum mainly because this is a large-scale game that will definitely encompass many, many topics.

I suppose that most of you have never heard of the game of Nomic before.
Nomic is described as this by the creator:

--- Quote ---Nomic is a game in which changing the rules is a move. In that respect it differs from almost every other game. The primary activity of Nomic is proposing changes in the rules, debating the wisdom of changing them in that way, voting on the changes, deciding what can and cannot be done afterwards, and doing it. Even this core of the game, of course, can be changed.
--- End quote ---
Nomic briefly is a game of law-making. In all games of Nomic begin with an "initial rule set" which defines the beginning of the game.
The risk of the game is that in the event of a loop-hole, a player can become a dictator of the game and evidently win the game by paradox.
Or win by points.

wiki page for nomic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomic
an introduction to nomic: http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/writing/nomic.htm

I would post every rule, but the introduction has the initial rule set and how to play the game.

I will gladly answer questions you have on this game. I hope that this is accepted because it seems like a nice large-scale forum game :P

Also i would like to be moderator for the sub-forum ONLY no other forum. I understand if this request is denied, the only reason i made the request is because current moderators probably don't want to have to keep track of game specific information because this spans many topics.

TL;DR all the way!
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
Spoiler (click to show/hide)Seriously though, holy fucking tl;dr'd on the links. From what I read how ever, it really does sound fun and requires a lot of thinking?

i would have made a tl;dr section at the bottom however you sort of have to read the second link to understand the game, at least until the subforum is set up which in that case i would be able to post the rules and game specifics

and its a game of law-making/changing. you change the rules of the game to better benefit yourself. all rule changes are voted on. all players must vote on every proposal. if the vote is unanimous the proposal is passed, if the proposal isn't passed within 2 turn cycles it only requires a majority vote.

thats it simply but you can't play the game on just that knowledge

I'll read the link later when I have time then.
I already am interested though.

The part about everyone participating: What if someone is out for a while? What would be the amount of time til they have to respond or are left out.
