I like the idea of admins deciding the VIPs. It neigh garuntees that the VIP will be honest and helpful instead of mingey and respectard-y.
Edit: Oh, and if they bug admins a lot about it, they should get a -1 or something for that. That was to prevent Tomcat and other admins safe from waves of PMs.

I agree, admins can't be on all the time, so it would be nice for the community to at least be able to see whos applying for VIP, maybe like some kind of thread along the lines of "People applying for VIP this week:"
That way if some regular members see someone applying for VIP that they have seen do something wrong they can PM an admin.

Its fine just aslong as you dont have to pay money to get those special stats :O
(Not that I wouldn't donate money, just its kind-of a bummer if you have to pay to get those stats)
